Saturday 9th November - Yorkshire Trip! 10 years 6 months ago #20413

Edited by Tim Watts 14/10/13.

Just to get a date in the diary, i've edited this tread to turn into into something a bit more specific.

As per Andys original text (below)...

Cave

To Be decided based on those who sign up.

Transport & meeting points/times:

Can take myself plus 8 more in the Landy from North Wales.

Tims Landy - Leaving from Tims at 07:30 and Mikes at 08:00 to get to Ingleton for Breakfast at 10am.

Confirmed Attendees & Travel:

Tim Watts (Landy - Tims house)
Tony S
Vikki
Mike
Andy
Dylan

now - that hopefully this OHA business is out of everyones system - at least for a wile

you need a proper caving trip - and that can only be done in the Yorkshire dales :P its the caving laws

so stop slacking and sign up for a proper trip :

TO YORKSHIRE - where the real caves are

there is nothing on the club schedule for the next few weeks - so get organised - and get a date set - and the exact trip will be finalised according to weather conditions and abilities / desires of who actually turns up

I propose tatty wife for a dry day, swinsto pull through or little hull pot. OR can I suggest the boxhead/lost John's/Notts II connection..

They all sound awesome. I've only done the hothead connection one so far.

if we want to embugger ian - then it will have to be a leck fell permit :P

shuttleworth pot ? - a moderate SRT entrance into a fooking bonkers cave - with awesome pretties and newts and even a dog :)

short drop / gavel ?? - srt trip - with the option of an exchange

nots2 ? - a entrance on fixed ladders / scrabling - to very nice stream passage - with lots to see - to get the best trip there is a very wet long crawl

but to truly fuck him over - split up and pirate casterton and leck :P

but on a serious note - due to inclement weather - I had not actually considered booking a permit

though of the above - shuttleworth is safe in any weather - unless you go right to the sump and it takes a LOT of water to make notts2 unsafe

getting a Lancaster hole / easgegill permit - will be a lot easier - as the permit sec for casterton is a nice chap

easegill is fooking awesome - but its vast and my knowledge of the system is very limited - trips can be ` graded ` from easy bimbles to fooking epics

or gaping gill ? - very easy to get a permit - stream or marylin / dis ?

though TBH - I was thinking of a kingsdale trip - or meregill

obviously highly weather dependant

does anyone have a strong preference ? or had a cave on their wishlist for ages ??

Meregill sound good to me. but also a trip with exchange option is always nice too. i dont mind helping rig. Also fancy taking camera. so miles of shitty crawling is less attractive.

Just a quickie if you are thinking of meregill be wary i know this system like the back of my hand it is without doubt the hardest coldest and wettest trip in the dales if the lake is you will be met with rushing water waist deep at the start all downhill chutes and life lines between pitches the waterfalls in high water are horrendous and you have to pass through one on a change over i nearly lost linda in this system and Ian turned around befor pitch 2 he will tell you how cold and debris is high up the walls and floods quick if you are down here and the heaven opens up there is no were to hide you muust put your hangers in way up in the roof for this reason, look for them do not use any around chest height they will underwater by the time you try to get back this is a good trip in summer but winter its worse than when i got trapped in swinto the volume of water is a lot more, so throw caution to the wind boys do not try to be hero,s its not worth it.
