Through gate - and follow service road up - buildings and tips - evident - thaen the road reaches a level - follow obvious path down into pit working

Access

no known permissions required

Suggested Equipment

None

Length

Bigger on surface than UG

Flood Risk

Zero - one UG drive has knee deep water

Mine Attributes : Slate

Description :

Surface :

Various buildings in very poor condition=- and several inclines grace the tips - although no adits are found outside the pit

The forrestry to the east - seems to have tramways leading off - but nothing discovered

The tips are best climbed at the south end - its steep - but simple - and work north

UG

The “ best “ adit to use is in the far south east corner of the pit - and leads to a “ y “ jn - the left fork passes several collapses with daylight - that the adventurous can scramble out of - before a collapse blocks the way

The left leg - goes “ somewhere “

The hunter machine bores

The first twin bore - is immediately obvious in far wall - once you descend the pit - its a bit of a scramble - take care
A single bore can be found - at the top of the south east face of the pit - best approached from high level across the tips - untill a bench in the corner reveals a small caban - and the bore throat - quarrying has removed esy access to it - but with some gear - a belay could be engineered - and the bore explored

Conclusion

The main attraction = the hunter machine bores - visit - marvel at thier wonder - take selfies and leave :)

Its a fine way to kill a couple of hours - best attacked in winter - as the brakken and brambles overwhelm everything

I went to photograph the bores a long while back and didn't know there was an adit down there as well!
The old incline shows quite nicely on the centre of the aerial photo.
