Great Video Ian, I can't believe how much light underwater bulb gave off in the video, shame my camera didn't see as much. Like you Pictures too, especially DSCF2976a.jpg

Good trip, even if it was a bit S***** than I would have liked.

Excellent video Ian. I think the fine transparent crystals are not calcite (CaCo3), but rather gypsum (CaSO4) formed by the action of sulphur dioxide from the pyrites acting on calcium rich water. The pale green crystals are ferrous sulphate formed by oxidation of the pyrites.

Thanks Dave ... that's precisely the kind of info and help that is muchly appreciated :)

I did wonder about about the "green" - there is a fabulous display of it in Ystrad Einion and I recognise that as ferrous sulphate (iron (II) sulphate); I just wasn't sure if it was the same :dry:
