Hello 11 years 9 months ago #6788

Hello everybody, just joined up last week. I've been down a couple of North Wales mines in the last 12 months and really enjoyed the experience so here I am. I've done some cave diving in the past so not having to carry my own air supply will be a pleasant change.

Howdy doo Griffo and welcome to the forum :)

Do you live in North Wales ? Assuming you do, you are very welcome to join us on any of our trips (Thurs eves and some weekeneds).

Not too many places to dive here - mostly puddles ;)

Hi Ian, I live near Mold on the hill above Llanfynydd. Keen to get out on a Thursday evening if I can borrow a lamp. I'll keep an eye on the website.

I normally keep several spare helmets and lamps in my van. Also a spare suit size M.

Griffo ... yes, that's cooooolies :)

If you don't see a trip go up it may be because it is in the private section. If you give me a nudge I'll let you know where we are going and you are welcome to join us (spare lamp no problem - the club has plenty and so does john)

;)

Hello troglodytes. I am a new member and I went on the Cwmorthin trip a couple of weeks ago. Wonderful! So good in fact that I've bought a headlamp and some candles (just in case). See you around.
Most of my leisure time has been spent (and still is), going up large lumps of rock above ground level. I obviously have a steep (or should that be deep?)learning curve ahead of me.

Its me again - see you all on Sunday with a bit of luck. My wife has agreed to look after the dog so she'll be exhausted by the time I get home (wife, not dog) and I'll have to make the dinner. We'll be out by 5 will we ?

Easily out by 5pm - the slate mine is small (I did mention that  ) Prinically it is a photo trip as there are some nice iron pretties.

We can also do a lead mine right next to it and I would still expect to be away before 5pm (You will get wet in the lead mine)

What about footwear - wellies or boots ?

Boots for the slate mine (if we only do the slate mine) but Wellies for the lead mine (if we do the lead mine). Wellies are good for either.

Much easier to just bring wellies ;)

Hi Mike. Yes, I do live local-ish. I inhabit an isolated hafod at the edge of the Berwyns between Corwen and Llangollen, about 2 miles from the Moel Fferna slate mine.

Grades? I'm steadily working down them!! Current repertoire consists of classics, scrambling, via ferrata and Swiss giants. All good stuff, but hardly cutting edge!
